March 1, 2011. Registration opened for the NAA Conference & Show in Orlando, Florida! State Association Executive Directors: Be sure to register early and plan to attend the State Association Executive Director Events. This year they will be held on Wednesday of the Conference and led by Kathy Baber, Executive Director of the Indiana Auctioneers Association. For more info about the NAA Conference & Show, go to www.auctioneers.org. February 23-24, 2011. Kansas City, KS: More than half of the states leaders attended the NAA Leadership Forum in Kansas City. State Presidents and Executive Directors networked with the NAA Leadership and discussed many topics related to NAA, State Associations and how they can work together. July 13, 2010. Many states and South Africa were represented at the Executive Director meetings during the National Auctioneers Association Conference and Show. Many great ideas were discussed about trends in the auction industry and member benefits. Ideas for new ways for CASAA to serve the membership of our states were also discussed and changes made to better assist the Executive Directors. State Association Presidents and Executive Directors networked with the NAA Leadership and discussed many topics related to State Associations, NAA and what issues we can work together on. Major topics included Member Benefits, Member Recruitment and Retention as well as innovative new ways associations are using to increase the benefit of membership. As with any association, the economy and what associations can do to increase value while keeping costs down is a major concern. In all, the event was very successful and all states look forward to next year’s conference. February 24 – 26, 2009. July 17, 2007 – Executive Directors from several states gathered together in San Diego, California at the NAA Conference & Show. The second annual meeting of the Council of Affiliated State Auctioneers Associations was lively and productive for all who attended. Executive Directors from State Auctioneers Associations have gathered for years to discuss ideas and learn from each other. In 2006, the group of state leaders organized this prestigious group to create an information source and central learning place for executive directors of state auctioneers associations. The Council for Affiliated State Auctioneers Associations 2007 annual meeting was held in the Devonshire room at the Town and Country Resort, July 17, 2007 in San Diego, CA. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 PM by Council Chair Tricia Wiltjer (Michigan) with the following persons also present: Charles Whitley, Kentucky; Jeanie Crowl, Pennsylvania; Pam Nixon, Tennessee; Ora Adler, Nebraska; Lynne Zink, Maryland; Kathy Humphries, Texas; Frank Imholte, Minnesota; and Maxine O’Brien, Arizona, Illinois and Wisconsin. December 13, 2006 - Select State Auctioneers Association Executive Directors traveled to Fort Wayne, Indiana for the second leadership forum. NAA president, Bill Sheridan, met with a select group of state auctioneer association executive directors in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Directors asked to attend the meeting were Frank Imholte, Executive Director of the Minnesota State Auctioneers Association, Maxine O’Brien, Executive Director of the Illinois, Arizona and Wisconsin Auctioneers Associations, Charles Whitley, Executive Director of the Kentucky Auctioneers Association, and Tricia Wiltjer, Executive Director of the Michigan State Auctioneers Association. Also attending were Bob Shively, NAA CEO, and Ashley Herman, NAA State Association Services Manager. The day long meeting was to discuss the relationship between the state associations and NAA, NAA’s State Association Management Program, NAA’s Conference & Show, the State Leadership Forum and many other great impromptu topics that came up during the meeting. This gave the State Association Executive Directors time to discuss issues with NAA as well as time to spend with NAA’s President, William L Sheridan of Mason Michigan, to candidly talk about the relationship between NAA and the states. These discussions prompted healthy discussion of what NAA and the states can do to help each other acheive their goals, which is to service their members and the auction industry in the best possible way.
